Self-made peanut butter

The first recipe! But taste is not my only reason for it, with self-made (peanut) butter you can save money and there´s no need for plastic or disposable packaging. Plus, it is sooo easy!

What you need

  • peanuts (or any kind of nuts you´d like to use)
  • vegetable oil
  • a mixer
  • optional: add anything you like, for example agave nectar (vegan)

… and that´s it. Simply make sure that your mixer is strong enough to process nuts!

I prefer roasting the nuts as the taste of the butter is much nicer then. Let the nuts cool down a bit and put them into the mixer, together with a few spoons of vegetable oil (the amount depends on how oily the nuts are).

IMG_0063-lrIf your mixer has a program for nut butters, there is nothing else to do. If not, crash the nuts on the highest level for a minute, afterwards continue on a lower level until the texture is creamy enough.

Fill the butter in a glas and that´s it. Enjoy!

Extra tip: Do you think normal peanut butter is boring? Simply try mixing different seeds and nuts together!
